The Vanity

I finally finished this project I started ages ago.
I haven't done much crafting since my grandmother passed away in September. I guess I haven't really been in the mood. Maybe finishing this project will get me "going" again.
When I made this project months ago I didnt like how it came out, so now I redid the back and the mini album and I am a little bit happier with the results.

I made this using instructions from this blog: http://paperphenomenon.com

The tutorial is called Vanity and you can find it here: http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Vanity-007.htm

I changed some things from the tutorial - just to make it a little but more my style :)

I know I don't usually post video's but this is for a contest! So everyone can go to her blog and vote for my project! Thanks!

The contest is called: Phenomenon Win Big, Kit Club Membership Contest

You can vote for my project here: http://paperphenomenon.com/contest/

Jewelry Making with my Slice and Shrinky Dinks

Yes, I am going back to my childhood. I remember in 1st grade making projects with Shrinky Dinks, dont remember what we made, but it was nothing worth talking about.

Sooo...
I decided to try something new. I cut shapes using my slice, colored them, baked them, added beads and finished!

Here are two things I made:

oatmeal cans and broken crayons

I made these for my nephews using epty ans of oatmeal and broken peies of crayons (you know, the ones none of the kids want to use anymore, even though they color perfectly fine...)

I decorated the cans using paper and my slice

I put all the broken peices of crayons in a upcake pan and baked them with peices the same shade

Utensil drawers

I started these drawers last summer. I wanted something for our utensils. We go though a TON of plastic throw-away utensils, so I thought a set of drawers would be cute.
This is made COMPLETELY out of card-board, paint & glue. The drawers are COMPLETELY from scratch. I really like how they came out! Let me know what you think!

I bought the knobs on ebay.

House Jewelry Box

I started this jewelry box at work one day using the top of a box of paper.
Well, I finally decided to finish it. Now I just have to figure out who to give it to :)

Wedding Album

Remember a few weeks ago I showed a picture of the table cloth I bought? I bought it because I really thought it would make a beautifull album cover, and guess what? It did.
I finally finished it and I really love how it came out. It was hard to work with, so I am not sure I will be buying more table cloths, but it was something worth trying.
Here are some pics.

CookBook Stand

I love making cookbooks, I am always trying to find a new way to make it the most convinient. I love this idea, with the cookbook standing you dont have to keep on turning the page with your dirty hands, cause it stays on the recipe you need. I also decorated some paperclips to clip on the my favorite recipies so that they are easier to find :0
Again, I made this using my SLice to decorate.

a little imagination

So I was out shopping and I saw this plastic table cloth that I really liked. I thought, that would look gorgeous as an album.

Basic Materials - always need to start somewhere :)

Table setting

Took me a long time to post, but this is part of the table setting I made for purim. We made little "pockets" for the forks, on top of that we made these cute flowers. They all co-ordinated perfectly with the colors of the plates of course...

FLOWERS!!!!

I love flowers, and I love using them in my scrapbooks. So I have seen lots of ways to make flowers using punches, but I cant afford, nor to I have the space to put so many punches. So instead I bought a new design card for my slice, Basics 2, which has TONS of flowers, I then layer them all together, curl them in different directions, and they come out gorgeous! Coming up next! Slice Party! I used my slice to set up a perfect party table!

this is one I made for a wedding album:

These I made using newspapers! and cute buttons I found, I inked the edges to make them look old:

My Slice

So, People have asked how I decorate my albums. The truth is, I used to by tons of stickers and other embellishments - but I never really likes how it looked at the end. About 2 years ago I bought a machine called the Slice. The IDEA of the machine is great! It cuts tons of different shapes, doesn't take up a lot of space and the design cards aren't so expensive - and each design cards cuts a lot of different shapes - not like some other die-cutting machines.
The truth is, I have had LOTS of problems with my slice, but they are sending me a fixed machine, so hopefully I wont have to complain anymore :) cant wait.
Meanwhile, I figured I would share some pages from an album I made with the help of my Slice.

come back tom. for more Slice designs :)
